BSI award Neptec Design Group for Quality Excellence

(Toronto, ON) July 15, 2011 - BSI have awarded an Ottawa aerospace firm for its leadership in the industry recently at a special ceremony in Kanata. Neptec Design Group Ltd., an aerospace design firm, was recognized by the British Standards International (BSI) Group Canada Inc., a leading global standards, certification and training organization, with an Award for Quality Excellence.

Nemtec and BSI at July 11 Ottawa office opening and awards ceremonyDeputy Mayor of Ottawa Eli El-Chantiry and Gilles Leclerc, Director General of Space Exploration at the Canadian Space Agency were on hand to honour the firm and to help BSI celebrate the opening of its new location at 515 Legget Drive in Kanata, ON that will create five brand new jobs to the region.

Gary Robinson, BSI Canada’s Commercial Director, awarded the firm and said, “Neptec is a prime example of how Canadian businesses can become more competitive, efficient and successful by focusing on internationally recognized standards that improve performance. They are taking quality in aerospace seriously and for that we are recognizing them today.”

Dave Elgin, Director of Plant Operations, thanked BSI for the honour.

“We are delighted to be honoured by the world’s first national standards body, BSI Group, here in the city where we are headquartered,” said Mr. Elgin. “Adhering to international standards ensures that we are competitive on the international stage and are able to provide leading edge products that deliver superior results.”

Neptec has worked with the Canadian Space Agency and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to deliver high quality space exploration products for over 15 years. They are the only non-U.S. company to be awarded NASA’s Prestigious George M. Low Award in February 2011, putting the region at the forefront of global innovation in space exploration and robotics.

BSI Group’s new Ottawa office will focus on enhancing national services for its clients, continuing to deliver services that improve the competitiveness of Canadian businesses and celebrating the good work of clients who are succeeding at quality assurance in Canada and abroad.  Over 50 people attended the evening event.
